Analyze allows a mage to discern something regarding the target. The result of such a spell does not require a duration to be set, as this knowledge would take place instantly and would then be retained permanently. It only requires the mage spend one energy point for every foot away the target is. The mage could also cast this spell on a person he wishes to give the ability to analyze. In this case, it costs one point per turn the effect is to last, plus one point per foot away from the target the spell effect should work for the target.

Confuse causes the knowledge that someone has and makes it distorted, or can confuse the attributes of something so that someone investigating it will come away with incorrect knowledge. Confuse can also be used directly against an Analyze spell to confuse it. One of the most regular uses of this skill is to Confuse Intellect, Confuse Persona, or Confuse Willpower in such a way that a target will attack his foes, or to Confuse Skill on a target so that he “forgets” how to properly use his weapon. The spell point cost for this is one point per every foot away from the mage the target is, plus one point for every foot around that target the spell is to take effect (for an area of effect confusion), plus one point for every full minute or round the spell effect is to last.

The difference between Confuse and Confound is that Confuse takes some knowledge and distorts it (such as a person's ability to walk, or to realize which people are his friends or foes), and Confound makes the information itself distorted and unable to be realized properly, such as by garbling speech or text rather than the person's understanding of the speech or text.
