Description[]

Marionettes are fractured spirits that occupy nonliving matter and control it in order to destroy any living creatures they find. It is possible that they can unite and control just one body, such as a doll, but in many cases the spirits control a number of objects and bring them together to form a humanoid body. For example, if the spirits got a hold of a drawer filled with knives, two knives might make the upper arms, two might make the forearms, two at the upper legs, two at the lower legs, one as the torso, and one as the head. They may, if they have enough parts, have fingers and even facial features, but all they need to operate are the parts listed above.

Location[]

Marionettes can be found anywhere.

Modus Operandi[]

Marionettes are often made up of the fragmented soul of a violent murderer who himself died in a violent way (often in the electric chair). They return to a place of importance to them (for example, a place where they committed their murders), and search for things to use their Marionette ability on (it only works in this case on nonliving materials). They will join together and then seek out nearby humans to kill, feeding on the murders to become more powerful. They will then continue wantonly murdering until they are stopped. When they have become powerful enough, they attempt to Possess a human body, evacuating the original soul into oblivion and taking it on as their own. In many cases, they will become a Souljumper.

Neutralization[]

Parts of the Marionette can be destroyed, but the fragment of spirit occupying the destroyed parts will move into something else. You can also exorcise the parts, but if there is anything left it will summon the other parts back as soon as possible. The best way to destroy a Marionette is to find the body of the murderer and trap the spirits in the body, then bury it with its arms and legs tied with a red cord.

Story Seed[]

A series of grisly murders take place the week after a serial killer is put to death. At first, it is thought that it is a copycat killer, but the lead investigator realizes that certain aspects were not released to the media. Has the killer somehow returned?
